abstract

background: triple negative breast cancer (tnbc) is reported to be associated with a high risk of recurrence, poor overall survival (os), and disease-free survival (dfs) rates. this study evaluated the clincopathological features and survival of non-metastatic tnbc women in the capital of iran compared with other areas of the world. methods: in a retrospective study, 119 women with tnbc based on the criteria were analyzed in this study during 2007-2015. a number of clinicopathological variables, os and dfs were determined in all patients. the mean follow-up was 38 months, which 6 patients lost to follow-up and 16 died of the disease and therefore were censored from the study.  results: the mean age at diagnosis was 44.9 years (range: 21-85 years). 31.9% were older than 50 years. the 2- and 5-years os rates were 96% and 88.1%, respectively; whereas, the 2- and 5-years dfs rates were 87% and 74.1%, respectively. right breast tumor and lymph node involvement were more common in patients younger than 50 years, but vascular invasion was more observed in patients aged ≥50 years. there was no significant difference between menopause status, age and ki-67 index for os or dfs.  conclusion: the prevalence of tnbc was more common in women younger than 50 years. ki-67 index, menopausal status and age could contribute to prognosis and survival of patients.

Association of HDAC8 Expression with Pathological Findings in Triple Negative and Non-Triple Negative Breast Cancer: Implications for Diagnosis

Background: Previous data have shown the tumorigenicity roles of HDAC8 in breast cancer. More recently, the oncogenic effects of this molecule have been revealed in TNBC. The present study aimed to determine the diagnostic value of HDAC8 for the differentiation of TNBC from nTNBC tumors. Methods: A total of 50 cancerous and normal adjacent tumor specimens were obtained, and the clinical and pat...

Radiologic Features of Triple Negative Breast Cancer

Triple negative (TN) breast cancer is defined as cancer with negative expressions of hormone receptors and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). This subtype is characterized as a cancer with a high malignancy potential and a poor prognosis. Endocrine therapy and anti-HER2 therapy are ineffective in the treatment of TN breast cancer as they have less specific targets compared with ot...

Features of triple-negative breast cancer

The aim of this study was to determine the features of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) using a large national database. TNBC is known to be an aggressive subtype, but national epidemiologic data are sparse. All patients with invasive breast cancer and known molecular subtype diagnosed in 2010 to 2011 were identified from the National Cancer Data Base (NCDB). Patients with and without TNBC ...

Comparison of Clinicopathological Features and Prognosis in Triple-Negative and Non-Triple Negative Breast Cancer

PURPOSE Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has attracted more attention both clinically and experimentally because of its high-risk biological characteristics and lacking of effective treatment method. The purpose of this retrospective study was to find out the incidence of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) in all kinds of breast cancers and to compare and analyze the clinicopathological f...
